Outside Living – Is Summer Your Happy Season?

DIY design and construction can be wonderfully rewarding. One of the areas that allows for endless possibilities is designing your outside living area.

What’s Your Backyard Vibe?

Before diving into your project, it is vital to decide what overall feel you are going for. The vibe may be directly influenced by yard size, already existing features, and architectural style of the home. While the options and variations are endless, some popular styles include tropical island oasis, modern minimalist, and comfy cabin. While each creates a different result, the factors to consider while designing remain constant.

Creating An Outdoor Seating Area

Seating space can accomplish several goals. It can be a place to gather for meals, a place to relax or a place to sip a refreshing cocktail. If going for tropical feel introduction of a hammock would be ideal. A modern minimalist feel can be accomplished with streamline furniture while a comfy cabin may include oversized lawn furniture with an abundance of pillows.

Shall We Cook?

The warmth of the Summer Season lends itself to encouraging outdoor cooking. It is important to make sure your design includes the elements that you love the most. Whether it is a gas grill, charcoal BBQ or something more specific like a pizza oven you must make sure that layout is safe and convenient with the required fuel plumbed to the correct location. Regardless of which style you are going for, the taste of fresh cooked food will charm your guests and warm your bellies.

What Features to Include?

In addition to the basics that we have discussed, most homeowners would like a feature to grab guests’ attention. Some of the most popular feature types could include water or fire features. Personally, I have included both in my outdoor living area. I couldn’t be happier with the water fountain noise and the fire table ambiance that balance each other out.

The Ultimate Finished Product

While all of these considerations are influential in your design, the most important part is that the space reflects what you want it to be. You have to be comfortable in the space so that you use it to relax and recharge.
